Services Offered

Behaviour Management

I work with parents and care givers who are experiencing difficult behaviours with their children. Working together, we will come up with a behaviour management plan that will increase positive behaviours, and decrease those causing stress in your home. Through this process, I focus on building on the strengths of individual family members, increasing communication and understanding within the home, and exploring what is behind the behaviour in question. With this information, I work with you to create and implement a plan that meets your family's needs. Often with this type of service, a brief intervention is all that is needed to achieve desired results.

Advocacy Support

Navigating family and/or child and youth support services can be overwhelming and difficult. I can help make this process smoother and easier to understand. Whether you need help in understanding the services available to you and your child, knowing what your rights are as clients and parents in the system, or making sure you are getting the support you need and deserve in community services, I can help. I am happy to support you behind the scenes, to attend meetings with you and your family, to contact agencies on your behalf, or to work with you to identify what would be the most helpful.

It is difficult enough to be managing mental health issues, disabilities, or other challenges as a family, without the added complexity of accessing proper services. I can help make the process less intimidating for you and your family. You don't have to do this alone.

1:1 Support

Perhaps you are on a waiting list for therapeutic support with an agency in town, and don't feel you can wait. Perhaps you're not sure what kind of support would be best for your child, but you know they need something. Your child may have identified a need or wish to have someone to talk to about emotional struggles they are having, or you have may have identified yourself that your child needs support with issues, or to help learn some coping skills.

If you are needing 1:1 therapeutic support for your child, I can help with that. Whether you need help in identifying what form of support would be best for your child, you are needing some immediate support while waiting for a community agency to have an opening for your child, or whether you would like some help in skills building or supporting your child through a difficult time, I am available.

My role in working 1:1 with your child is not to replace formal counseling or therapy if needed, but to provide extra support, to augment the support already being given, or to fill in gaps in service (such as waiting lists, or gaps between treatment providers) to help support families who need something more.

I can support children/youth as young as three 3 or into their early adult years with 1:1 support.

Fees

First Appointment: The first meet and greet appointment is complementary. In this appointment, I will let you know about my services, we will have a chance to get to know each other, and to decide what might be best for your family, and how I can support you through that. Because the meeting is usually in a public setting, such as a coffee shop, we won't go into details as far as issues and concerns, but it is more of a chance for you to interview me to see if I will be a fit for your family.

FREE

Behaviour Management and Advocacy: This type of service is generally considered life-space intervention, where I support your family in a less formal setting. I charge only for the hours I am with your family, and not for the time I will spend preparing for the meetings.

$50 per hour

1:1 Support: In the case of 1:1 support, there will be a more focused setting. 1:1 sessions tend to be limited to one hour each week or two, depending on what you feel you need. Again, I do not charge for any office work or preparation in my fees.

$85 per hour
